My journey began in the Cayman Islands, where I was born into humble beginnings– raised by a strong Caribbean mother of Jamaican descent, who always did her best to provide for me and my two younger siblings . As a teenager, I struggled a lot to find the right sanitary pad. If they weren’t thick and uncomfortable, they provided very little protection from leaks, and that just wouldn’t do, especially since I was an active student in sports. In addition, the only pads that were around were notorious for being itchy, causing painful rashes and yeast infections as well as severe cramping and unpleasant smells. I tried numerous brands but none of them seemed to work. I spoke with other women about the challenges I was having and soon realize I was not alone. ​So, I did some research and discovered that most pads contained harmful chemicals.
